I’m Getting Screwed, I Need Some Help
I’m sure this post is going to end up getting a million comments from cult members just laughing their asses off, but I don’t care, I know I have a few fans out there. So fans, I need your help…
When I signed up with ZenSix Media, I was told that they would take care of everything and I would even get part of the profits from ads on the site, if the site did well of course. In a rush to get started with the site, I agreed and faxed back a contract, which I barely skimmed. I know, I should have read it through.
Well, today I was told that I should be receiving a check in the mail from them for my portion or March’s earnings. My check is for $11.25… at first I thought this was awesome! Getting paid to bring down a cult, sweet. And then I realized it was only 1% of what this site has made from ads!!!! I saw it in the contract and they confirmed it. I only get 1% of all the profits that my site makes! What the hell! That’s right, iHATEcutewithchris.com made $1,125 so far and I only get 1% of it.
So my question is this; can I sue ZenSix Media for more money or am I screwed? I don’t even officially own the domain ihatecutewithchris.com, they do. I didn’t realize it would be registered under their name when I made the deal. Is there a way I can get the domain in my name and move somewhere else if they won’t pay me more?
So if you’re a fan, please do not click on any ads or sign up for anything you see on this site. The profits do not go to me or my cause.

I don’t think you can sue for more money if you agreed to the contract. It’s irritating, true, but I don’t believe there’s much that can be done. Then again, I have about the legal knowledge of a cashew.

As a resident CWC fan who happens to be an attorney (yes, educated people watch the show too, contrary to your belief), if you read a contract (skimmed it), and signed it, you’re stuck. I dont know if you’ve gotten an actual answer yet, but from my knowledge, I do not believe you have any right to sue them. You signed the contract.
It was your responsibility to read it carefully before signing it. And you cannot take that name domain or sue them for it unless you have proof that it belongs to you. You do not have proof because you signed the contract - the contract stated that it would be the property of the company and not yours.
I’ve worked with the Office of Consumer Protection for a few years now and this is unfortunate. It happens way too often. Especially with cellphone contracts. I’m sorry to say, but I hardly doubt anything you do about this will work out. It was your responsibility. You signed it. No one forced you. You can’t sue them because you didn’t feel like reading the long, complicated contract. Next time, ask a notary to read it over with you, just to make sure you’re not getting screwed over like you just did.
